Media diary week 1 - Review on Disney's frozen

The movie Frozen is an animated movie produced by Disney that features a rather cliche royal family which you would expect in most Disney movies, however it isn't the classic tale of 'princess meets prince and they live happily ever after'; it's about two princess sisters named Elsa and Anna that grew apart as they got older due to elsa hiding some secret ability she has. In the movie we can see that both princesses are struggling with being lonely, an example of this is when young elsa is hidden away in her room and Anna is always desperately trying to get her attention during the song 'do you want to build a snowman.'

Frozen features a lot of enjoyable songs that you'd assume would mostly appear to younger children but since the movie came out a lot of the teenaged generation have also taken alike to this movie. The movie is a musical that has became extremely popular when it was first released and he songs vary from being really cheery to being sad and slow, there's even a song were both emotions are combined, it's the 'for the first time in forever' reprise. A specific song became really popular after it being shown on frozen and it's Demi Lovato's song 'Let it go'; it made the UK Charts.

In some ways frozen is quite similar to Disney's movie Brave because in both films they teach young girls that they don't need a man to come and save the day and that family is one of the most important things and in my own opinion I think that's a very beautiful message to send out to young females. It can be seen as quite a feminine movie but in fact there is a comical side to the movie that relates to the 21st century as the movie contains a lot of puns, jokes and sarcasm. An example of when comedy is used is when the talking snowman named Olaf gets punctured right through the chest and says "Oh, would you look at that, I've been impaled" and as he says it he has such a carefree tone which creates a funny atmosphere.

Overall I think that frozen is a good movie and even though a lot of people claim that it's overrated or not as good as they though it would be it has a lot more meaning when you look into the full depth of the movie.
