Media Diary; Week Two

Beyoncé

Beyoncé is the fifth studio album by American recording artist Beyoncé, released on December 13th 2013. The album was released digitally to the iTunes Store without any prior announcement or promotion. Receiving rave reviews from music critics, who commended its production, the album was ranked as the best album of 2013. As it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and sold 823,773 copies worldwide in less than three days. Becoming the fastest-selling album via iTunes Stores' history. The album has spawned five number one singles so far during this year, 'XO', 'Partition', 'Drunk In Love', 'Flawless' & 'Pretty Hurts.'

The album has been identified as one of the most explicit pop albums ever recorded and tackles themes more darker and complex than Beyoncés previous material, including feminisim. Jay-Z, is another major huge artist in the industry, he himself is included within Beyoncés album, collaborating with her in many songs. This also giving the album a boost as the couple are known for being so powerful and iconic.

The genre of the album is R&B and also pop, I think the main targeted audience would mostly be young teenagers over 16. Although Beyoncé is admired by millions I believe those older would either relate to the music, or be inspired and know what the lyrics mean whereas younger children may not. I personally enjoy listening to her music, very much. I admire Beyoncés wide range of styles and how some of her singles within this album, other people and myself can relate to and take inspiration from. I believe that relating to a piece of music brings such a powerful connection between the artist and the individual. I would definitely give this album a star rating of 5/5, and would recommend anyone to listen to it.
