The Walking Dead is a week by week series about a man named Rick a local sheriff who is the protagonist of the series, it beings with him wakeing up from  a 7 month a coma after being shot and finds himself in a world infected by a zombie apocalypse, using his quick mind and police training he is on a mission to find his son and wife and find a sense of security in a new world he knows very little about. Whilst looking for his family he encounters hordes of the undead and struggles to survive and along the way he meets different kinds of people and works out different ways to survive. The main genres of the series are Thriller, Horror and most importantly Thriller which helps make it more entertaining. In the entire series there isn't a ordinary moment, everything is different and a lot more tense and keeps you on edge. With the constant threat of dying and finding ways to survive and reshape their ruined lives. With the idea of "Hunt or be hunted" there is more than just zombies that are a threat to Ricks survival.

The constant feeling of pressure and danger in The Walking Dead helps make it more appealing and entertaining, that matched with the constant struggle to survive helps make it different to other shows because it is 
unusual and different to other shows on TV. The show is aimed at a wide audience but mainly teenagers or younger adults who would be able to with stand the gory and violent parts in the series, it involves a lot of blood and bad language which would be inappropriate for people of a certain age.
