The Adam's Family



In all honesty this is by far one of my most favourite films. The Addam's Family is an American fantasy comedy film, based around the characters from the cartoon of the same name created by Charles Addams. The film challenges both my entertainment/escapism and social interaction needs in life. The film tends to air on the television every year near the winter season, connoting its genre. Most of the time I talk about the film with my family & friends, despite it appearing on the television a lot I never seem to get bored of watching it. I think that when it comes to film making that is the best thing. I also believe it challenges my entertainment/escapism need, as it fulfills what I want to see in the film. This need allows you to delve into a different world, with and alongside of the characters. Some characters can be found as relatable, therefore it can also challenge an invididuals personal identity need.

I personally think that the film targets all of the chosen three; the Mainstreamer, Aspirer & Explorer. Both the Mainstreamer and Aspirer are similar in a way of which they both want what is best, & what they mean by that is what others perceive as being the best and most superficial. They follow everyone else, as a way of fitting in and not standing out or being different. I believe they would watch the film because others would want to watch it, or because of how popular it has become to this day. On the other hand, the Explorer seeks difference. I think that they would watch it as a way of enjoying something new & unique. As they find it interesting to try out and experience something different. I personally believe that I relate the Explorer when I come to watch this film, usually these type of films don't really catch my eye and intrigue me, but this one definitely has.
