That should be enough to justify studying it.
These are the questions that should be answered whilst watching - they will inform your notes and then afterwards you are going to write them up as an essay which can be a post on the blog.
Remind yourself of the questions…
There are more than enough different ideas here to
- To complete the essay you do not have to answer all of the questions
- However you must write this up as an essay - not just separate answers to questions
- Pick the elements of Hitchcock's work that you think is most interesting to discuss
- Give your own ideas and suggestions - but back them up with evidence from the film
- Posting your essay to the blog means that you'll be able to use screen shots and embed short clips to help you prove your points
- If you want to expand your argument then read Robin Wood's essay below, you can borrow some of his ideas or disagree with them, it's entirely up to you!
Just to get you thinking here is my favourite scene and my favourite use of audience positioning…
You'll have notes from the screening, the lesson we spent analysing scenes as well as the essay above. There is no word limit so go for it.
As you can tell, Hitchcock's films are somewhat of a hobby of mine, but then I suppose: "A hobby should pass the time, not fill it."
