Characters/Visual style
There is one main character in this video shot in a C/U to make the advert more effective and to create a tenor between the audience and the girl. The girl starts out with a small cut above her eyebrow and a black left eye which she tries to cover up using make up. Gradually these injuries become worse and more appeal on her face; her nose begins to bleed, she gets another black eye, her neck is all cut and bruised. The girl has now stopped applying makeup because she see's there is no use because she is used to the beatings now; she knows whats coming for her. The girl is looking directly into the camera as is she is looking into a mirror at herself reflecting on the fact that each time she comes to the mirror her face is more destroyed. The camera tracks backwards away from the girls eyes so that the audience can see what is happening to her and what injuries she is faced with. She is in her bathroom when she is cleaning herself up, this is one of the most dangerous places to be in the household when abuse is going on which reflects the fact that she isn't safe even in her own home. When the advert is coming to an end we see her turn around quickly because she hears her partner entering the room, this makes the audience and the girl jump because they both know what is about to happen and the audience cannot do anything to stop it. The phone number for PSA and the logo appear on a black background at the end of the advert.
