Game,50 Cent - Hate it or love it (2005)
Camera/Editing
The camera often features big close ups (BCU's) with both Game and 50 giving direct eye contact to the camera a lot of the time, This gives a feeling to the audience that they are speaking directly to them and they are personally being told both Game & 50's story . The editing is relaxed and stays at the same pace throughout the song.
Narrative
The song is based on the real life rags to riches stories of Game & 50. It focuses on the early struggles of growing up in Jamaica.Queens - 50 and Compton - Game. 50 references not knowing his dad who he believed was likely in prison, and how he turned to dope to make money to buy jeweler y and other luxury items, the chorus then hits which emphasises the rags to riches story of 50 and how he beat poverty and now has money. "Wear the wrong colours be cautious, one phone call have your body dumped in Marcy". This is line from Games inital verse, the line states how just wearing the wrong colours in the area can result in your death due to the war between the Crips (blue) and the Bloods (Red). This exemplifies how dangerous his childhood was.
Conventional/Unconventional
The song is conventional in ways such as lip syncing in a studi (in this case on a plane, basketball court) etc while also switching to a video focusing solely on a narrative
What Works?
The video transitions seamlessly along at the same pace of the song, this works well and is conventional, the shocking seen of the dead child next to his friend emphasises how dangerous the upbringing was.
