Ideology
National Accident Helpline are there to help people who have been neglected medically when they have been ill or injured etc. So many people are neglected when they think something has gone wrong, it can be a 'nightmare' to try and find someone who will help and give you the support you need so you can get back on track.
Characters/Visual style
There is a cartoon dog in a hospital bed struggling to sleep due to his nightmares of having no one to turn to when he leaves hospital knowing something has gone wrong in his treatment. the dog becomes more settled when he realises he can turn to National Accident Helpline to ensure he is properly treated. When the dog is re-assured we can hear birds and the lightning stop that he was hearing throughout his nightmare - he is now in a dream. The VO is the dogs voice, he talks about his own situation so that the audience can relate to how he is feeling. This tenor with the audience makes them aware of what could happen if they were medically neglected ensuring that they would turn to the National Accident Helpline.
Lines of Appeal
This advert plays with the Psychological Needs and Safety Needs. When something bad happens to us we want to feel protected and feel secure about what will happen in the long run. This is why National Accident Help line wants to ensure that people who have not felt safe or psychologically well have this experience and feel better about the whole situation. There are some enigma codes in this advert making the audience ask questions such as Could this happen to me? where can I find the help I need if I am medically neglected? - the advert can personally identify with people who have already been medically neglected or are being. At the end of the advert the number and details for National Accident Helpline appear on the screen.
