A music video that gave me some inspiration with my own was the video “Ghetto Ghospel”. The entire feeling around the video is dark and this is something I wanted to try and replicate in my own. Also the video is unique in that is an entire music video and at no point did it cut to the artist in the studio, This is something I borrowed for my video in , this gave the video a feeling of being a movie, that is the story I wanted to tell.

Another music video I enjoyed was “A.D.H.D” , The narrative in this video is clear and times and turns to subtle references to keep it going. The narrative is also much deeper than a standard song, however the video switches from being deep and emotional to fun and casual very quickly in an effective way. This provides me with some inspiration that something this challenging could be done. Also this video .

The video for the song “Cult of Personality” gave me ideas that I felt could be performed well in my music video, first among these was how at times in the video instead of doing standard jump cuts for shots, they often faded into each other, this created a very unique feel for the music video, however the video  doesn’t just stick to one edit as it also utilises quick cuts.  I also learnt from the video that showing the band together in a video shows strength in numbers and I used this is the opposite way to show my main character as a lonely person with nobody to help her.

The video for “Gangsta rap made me do it” shows a powerful way for the main character to connect with the audience that I utilised, Ice Cube sits in a close up staring directly at the camera, the only shots that alternate between these are extreme close ups of his mouth as he is rapping, this made the audience feel like Ice Cube is speaking and preaching directly the the audience, this help the audience identify with him, I used this in my video so that the audience could emphasise with the main character. The narrative in this story is also very clear and shows a sarcastic view on a mainstream opinion, and the narrative being so clear and easy to understand helped improve the video and influenced me to do the same thing with mine.

I was partially influenced by the video for the Toto song “Africa”. The video makes use of establishing shots to introduce the area and the characters. The long panning shot from above is a very good and impressed me enough to put it in my video. The slow editing is smooth however and this provided a calming thought throughout the video which I chose to partially use this technique in my video.

Another video I used to inform my own was They Reminisce over you (T.R.O.Y)
