Beckham Armani Advertisement Analysis

Emporio Armani (David & Victoria Beckham) Poster Analysis

The first thing I notice about this poster is the people who are on it. David & Victoria Beckham. At the time when the poster was taken they were in the element of their careers. David was one of the best football players in the world and Victoria was in Spice Girls. I think I was drawn to the celebrities on this advertisement first because they are ridiculously famous. Many people will also be drawn to the Beckhams and also they may be convinced to buy Armani's underwear range due to the fact that people want wear similar clothing to the celebrities they love. Armani couldn't have selected a better couple to have taken part in this photoshoot because at the time the Beckhams were both in their prime. People will want to purchase Armani's underwear range because as you can see on the photo they are both wearing Armani underwear, people will kind of want a taste of the luxurious life which the Beckhams have so purchasing these products will make them feel at a high class for a brief amount of time.

Also another thing I am drawn to in this photo is how it has been taken. It has been taken so that the Beckhams have been directed to do a sensual pose, this is so that normal everyday people will think that the underwear could make them look as good as supermodels. This pose also shows that they are really close, they are laying in a sensual pose therefore showing that their chemistry together must be great.

 The photo has a black and white filter on it. This gives it rich look due to the fact that many things that are luxurious do have a simplistic look. The black and white filter also causes no distractions, I am not exactly drawn to anything other than the Beckhams and this is what Armani wants, they want us to be drawn to the underwear so we will be more convinced to buy it. This filter also cleverly blocks out the vulgar of the photo, it looks horrible if you can see the original colour of the image so a filter is used to make it look better.

I am drawn to the words "David & Victoria Beckham". However these words are pretty small, I am drawn to them due to the fact that they are the colour black used on a white background. This is pretty clever because if people couldn't put their finger on who the celebrities were on the image then they can easily spot who they are with this tiny little bit of text. 

In conclusion I believe that this image is very simple but has a lot behind it making it very effective. From the colours of the words to the filters on the picture. The Beckhams have done a good job of looking sexy and advertising the product on this photograph and I'm pretty sure people wanted to purchase the same underwear due to the Hollywood names posing in them.
