Coronation Street Audience

Coronation Street is aimed at families and people that like soaps. This is also aimed at the mainstream because it is aimed at families and I think it would be aimed at 20+. The show is aimed at families because there are families in the programme so it is based around family life. Families tend to watch programmes based around families because they can watch people fail in life and feel good about themselves. It gives people a good lift because when people watch people’s lives fall apart then they forget all of their own worries in life.

Some people may disagree with me and say that they think it isn’t aimed at families. This is because it shows lives falling apart and this would not be appropriate to show to families. They may say that families don’t want to know what can happen in families even though most of the story lines would never happen.

I asked my family members what they thought on this and my mum said that she thought that families wouldn’t like this because they wouldn’t like to see what can happen in people’s lives because she thought that showing a five-year-old child having cancer is too upsetting to families because they wouldn’t want to see how hard the journey is. My brother however thought that it was aimed at families because showing what can happen for example a five-year-old child having cancer is a good thing to do because it can show how to cope and that it can get better.

I feel that whether you have children or not affects how you feel on the audience for Coronation Street because you will care more about your children because you won’t want to see anything bad happen to them so you don’t want to watch it were as people that don’t have children won’t think about that so won’t care.
