NSPCC adverts
These advert are based on young women/girls being abused. The first advert shows a close up shot of a girl, this implies that the girl is trapped in the frame of the picture. The advert doesn't show a background so the advert focuses on her. She is also making direct eye contact with the camera, this shows how she needs help and this eye contact allows a personal connection. She also has a muted sign over her mouth, this shows how someone has 'muted' her from a voice and so she is kept from speaking out and seeking help. The audience will feel bad for the girl due to this feature because the audience members will know how bad the girl must be suffering. The right side of the girls face is covered in shadow, letting the audience know how she is trapped in darkness. However, the left side of her face is lit up by a light. This connoted how the NSPCC are like a saviour from this abuse by shining a light into the dark. The girl is vulnerable to violence due to being muted and the fact that the advert producers have chose a girl could make the audience could feel more sympathy even thought this abuse happens to boys/young males. The girl has a straight face to emphasise the seriousness of this campaign and that it should pass on her negative nature onto the audience.
The text at the bottom of this advert says "when you can't talk about abuse, talk to us", this connotes back to the muted sign and when your in this girls situation you should contact the NSPCC. Another reference to the muted sign is "talking helps it stop" this suggests that talking to them removes the 'muted' sign and you are set free in a way. There is also a full stop at the end of the bold sentence, this is a useful piece of punctuation and shows how it is the end of an important statement. The text ha a helpline phone number and says it provides "expert advice", this shows how the NSPCC are professionals and that wen you call you are in trusted hands. The ad also spreads awareness for this abuse by containing "What do you say? Who to? And what exactly is abuse?". This illustrates that not everyone is aware and it wants to inform everyone with the eye catching rhetorical questions. The last question shows how not everyone knows exactly what it is and people themselves could be experiencing abuse without knowing. The text says that there are "further contacts" implying that they have a wide range of support an that everyone can receive help.
The target audience for this advert would be people like the girl shown in the advert, people in her position are directly targeted in. This is shown by the writing on the advert by the use of "you".
Advert 2
This second advert shows a mask hanging in a girls bedroom and this connotes many things. Firstly, the mask hanging is of a girls face smiling, this connotes to girls hiding their abuse by wearing a metaphorical mask which hides their true feelings and pain. The mask doesn't allow anyone to know what is happening underneath in the victims life, because of this nobody can help. The mask is in a young girls bedroom and this can connect more with the audiences attention more than a regular room and so the advert could become a social topic. Along side the mask is a school tie an this connotes how the girl carries on with her life whilst suffering the abuse caused to her and that abuse can be hard to recognise. This lets the audience know that the girl is innocent and stereotypes that she is vulnerable. This shows the audience that abuse isn't obvious and that it can be hide simply by a mask, this connotes that she cant defend herself to the abuse and this can connect with the audiences emotions.
