Axis of awesome are an Australian comedy rock band but they are a real band but they just don't take music seriously and like to just mess around and create stupid songs so this is why they are a comedy rock band and I love them. One of their songs s called Birdplane. This is one of their most famous songs and I think it is hilarious especially the video.

The video starts off with the axis of awesome starting to play the song and we see a poster with their name on it so we know who they are and who is performing the video and playing the song. We also see the birdplane fly over the city but when they start to sing it cuts bac o them and we see their faces and where they are and the comedy here is the piano players face because he is acting like the serious musicians that pull weird faces when they play so we already know that this video will contain humour.

When we see the birdplane land we hear through the lyrics saying that he is part bird and part plane so this again adds to the humour. This also shows the audience how stupid and ridiculous the song is going to be and the video to match so I like this already because I like videos that contain humour. The fact that they are doing it as a slow song helps them to add humour to the song because they can mock the people that they aren’t in music so it allows for more comedy.

In the video we can see the birdplane struggling to do normal things that people can do like taking a photo. When he walks away from the couple we see them mock him because he can’t take the photo and he looks sad. This shows the audience that he gets mocked a lot because he is different to everyone else. So behind all of the humour there is actually a real problem being shown through the narrative because he is different and I respect that.

There is a sign on somewhere that says no birdplanes and no knives so people in society are discriminating him and classing him as a group that isn’t allowed. They put him with knives which is horrible and it reminds the audience of the war because there were signs saying no Jews and no knives so they were outcasts and in the same group. This also shows how the world may be slipping into older times when the world was not right. We also see this when he gets something thrown at him so he is getting bullied by society and this is a growing issue.

We see him outside of a YMCA and this shows how he is poor because he is being shown as an outcast by society and this is also comedy. This is because a YMCA is not normally shown in a music video but because the video is so stupid and random they can use it to sow a message and to also add humour to the video like they did at the start of the video.

When he arrives at the house where they are performing we see how he is happy to finally be accepted by them and how this can be done in society. The message shown in the video is a message to us all because we are capable of helping someone out and not discriminating against them. This is why I like this video and I think it is executed brilliantly by a comedy rock band as well so I love it and a message could be used in my video like this so this is good inspiration to use and I love it.
