As you can probably tell this was set in America and Will Smith is American so the fact that he is fighting aliens to save his country is very patriotic. Most of Will Smiths roles are the hero and have been since he started his acting career in films. He was always seen as a hero and was for many years. On his posters we see him in suits and glasses showing the hero in him and it makes him easily recognisable on any poster. The poster makes him look very powerful and shows his leadership. This was a choice of the encoders (the photographer). They have chosen to make the photo look like this not just because of his role but to represent him in the best way possible. This is the same for all his movies and for many years this was the way he was represented. He was always cast in these roles.
