Text 7: BBC SitCom Twenty Twelve

The games also became the focus of many TV shows including  a BBC sitcom which took the form of a mockumentary which starred some of the key players of the games including Sebastian Coe - suggesting that those organising this could laugh at themselves…

Be careful when analysing this text - as a mockumentary, it is quite satirical and it does poke fun (as you would expect), however it is vital that you consider exactly WHO the encoders are before you make a final judgement on what the overall ideologies are relating to the Olympics...

  1. This reprsentation of the build up to the games relates to the people who were in charge of organising the whole thing. The idea is get across that British people tend to struggle with everything and find anything overly difficult to do. It protes that British people are very diotic and stupid and that its a wonder that anything gets done in Britain. It also represents the difficulties british people faced on the lead up to the games as the general concensuss was that the games were gong to be a disaster due to poor british preparation

    1. The text uses the complacencies of people as well when representing how the games would go as it heavily uses the fact that britsh people compain about everything. The text uses the idea that people would complain about something as stupid as the toilets as people ae always looking for something to be annoyed at. This represents the difficulties faced by the people organsisning the games. The text uses the idea that ceebrities are important to the games that people are a fan of as when the idea that Boris Johnson is the only option instead of David Beckham is put forward its suddenly a disaster and a no go. This is meant to be a joke however it does use typical britsh mind sets to understad what the organisers had to go through
