The X Factor | Media Diaries

A media text I have recently watched was the X factor, I watched this on ITV at 8pm on Saturday night. X Factor is a reality, talent and interactive show as it features normal everyday people wanting to follow there dreams by making it in the world of singing. It has four judges who are Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharron Osbourne and Louis Walsh who help them make that happen by mentoring them.
The main aim of the show is to help people who dream of being singers, it makes a platform were they can be known and build fandoms. Many famous people have came from the X Factor such as, One Direction, Little mix, Olly Murs etc. Another purpose of the show is to give the audience entertainment.

The target audience of the show is targeted at house wives with children and families as its on a reasonable time on the weekend when there is no school. I also think people who are thinking about going on X Factor and enjoy music. I also think it's aimed at the family because the advert that sponsers the X Factor is talktalk and it features people of all ages like family's, friends miming to a popular song.

I personally tune into X Factor every weekend as I think it's fun and entertaining. I enjoy reality television so I think that contributes to my liking of X Factor. When I watch X factor I can see that those four judges can decided whether you are good enough and make it as a pop star or can send you back home. Which must be scary for the contestants as they are either good enough or there not and they have to share it with the nation.

I think most people watch X factor as it it very entertaining and it gives us an insight of other people lives as it allows us to compare our lives with someone's on the show and if our life happens to be better than someone else's it makes some people feel good. Some people react in different ways to the show because some people think that X Factor is only a TV hit because they make fun out of people and end up getting a lot of views however some people enjoy and respect the show for what it is to entertain and find the next best thing.
