TV Show Review - Fuller House

'Fuller House' is the long awaited and much anticipated revival of the beloved TV show 'Full House'. The revival was added to Netflix in February 2016 and had fans excited. 'Fuller House' follows the life of DJ Tanner as she attempts to raise her three sons after the death of her husband. With her dad moving away, she struggles to cope with parenting alone however after overhearing a conversation, her sister Stephanie and lifelong best friend Kimmy Gibbler come to the rescue and they all move in to the Tanner family home.

This revival of the classic 'Full House' provided fans with plenty of jokes and story lines that filled them with nostalgia. Throughout the 13 episodes that aired on Netflix, the characters reintroduced their infamous catch phrases that added to the nostalgic nature of the show. Some of these catch phrases involved Stephanie Tanner's 'How Rude' and Uncle Jesse's 'Have Mercy'. These references to the original could only be understood by those who had seen it which may have provided confusion to viewers who have never had the opportunity to watch the phenomenon that was 'Full House'.

There was little chance of 'Fuller House' ever reaching the same potential that 'Full House' did but it was worth it just to see the cast of one of the best TV shows, in my opinion, ever to be aired. We were promised that all the original cast members would return for at least one episode and Netflix didn't disappoint, well except for the lack of Michelle Tanner, everyone's favourite character, who was played by twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. The excuse for Michelle's absence was that she was 'busy running her fashion empire in New York' which was the twins reason for not reprising their role. The reference to Michelle was then followed by a whole cast stare right into the camera for at least 10 seconds which added a comical, yet unprofessional touch to the episode. Maybe the revival would have reached its fullest potential if the twins had reprised their beloved role.

'Fuller House' isn't a Netflix original that you can watch whenever as without seeing the original, somethings do not make much sense. There are constant flashbacks throughout and references to things that only fans of the show will understand. Watch at your leisure but I assure you it may not make sense and I would seriously recommend you watch the original first. Not only should you watch the original so that 'Fuller House' makes sense to you, you should watch it purely to see one of the greatest family sitcoms ever and to allow yourself to fall in love with a family that doesn't exist.

After hearing that ‘Fuller House’ has been renewed for another season, as a fan I am delighted yet as a consumer I am quite shocked. Although I enjoyed watching the show, I do not think that people who had not seen the original would enjoy it due to the confusing references and the sometimes cringe worthy moments. I sincerely hope the Olsen twins realise how much they are missed and return to the show, even just for one episode, and help it reach its potential. After being a fan of ‘Full House’, I was doubtful yet still hoping that ‘Fuller House’ would be just as wonderful and even though it isn’t I’m glad it was released. I do recommend watching ‘Fuller House’ however for you to get the full experience, you should watch the original first, I promise you will not be disappointed.
