Following up Marvels debut Netflix title with 2 of Daredevil was never going to be an easy task as the first season was gritty, dark and gave audiences something different from the generic MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and showed us how super hero's could be darker but just as good in every single way. Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox) is now in full swing earing his Daredevil costume which was absent from the majority of season 1 however its absence provided good story telling and a reason for us to wait to see it. Season 2 did an excellent job of not just repeating season 1 and giving us something different which many TV shows fail to do.
With the villainous Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars it was clear that new characters needed to be introduced and Daredevil season 2 very much did this by giving us the Netflix version of The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and a fan favourite that all fans complained about being absent from the first season in Elektra (Elodie Yung).
Jon Bernthal's casting to play Frank Castle is one pf the best casting choices ever in TV. He is undoubtedly perfect for the role. Playing most famously Shane in The Walking Dead Jon Bernthal always delivers a darker style to his performance almost to the point that he himself as an actual thug. His look and character costume by its self is enough to make me think to myself don't mess with that guy. Bernthals portrayal of Frank Cstle was that good he earned himself a spin off show starring him as the Punisher.
Elodie Yungs Elektra on the other hand is a whole different kettle of fish. She portrays a character that is emotional yet violent at her core which led to a very complex character that many fans were able to relate to. Elodie herself stated that her core focus when playing Elektra was to remind audiences how much Elektra truly loves Matt Murdoch. The best way to describe Elektra is a psychopath with a heart of gold.
The two contributr to the story telling magnificently. The first four episodes are focused solely on the punisher and just as the calm is coming the storm immediately hits with the introduction of Elektra giving us an content filled action packed second season.
Fans wanted to see more of Nelson(Elden Henson) and Murdoch and they most definitely got it as the bulk of the second season is focused around a court trial as considering Matt Murdoch and Foggy Nelson are layers, the first season was absence of any court cases which left sour taste in fans mouths however the second season very much delivered this.
Karen Paige (Deborah Ann Wool) is back doing Karen Paige things however apart from having a bit of a story arc with Frank Catsle (The Punisher) she doesn't really do much for me personally as a character and still seems to be a flashing beacon for danger.
Overall the second season of Daredevil delivered massively receiving good reviews from fans and critics and also set up The Defenders(2017 Netflix Season) and the third season of the show nicely which was confirmed to have been renewed by Netflix in July 2016 however fans will have to wait till 2018 to get their hands on season three however who's to say we wont get any Daredevil action in The Defenders
