Keeping Up With The Kardashians | Media Diary
Although the Kardashians may not have the best reputation and are one of, if not the most, controversial families/celebrities, it is clear that they're also the most entertaining and powerful people in the media today. Not only are their faces on the front of almost every magazine, from OK! Magazine to Vogue, but their award winning TV series Keeping Up With The Kardashians is coming up to its 10 year anniversary and its 12th season.
Due to the show being based around a family of 6 girls and 1 boy, I would say the main target audience in girls, aged possibly 16-30. If you'd of asked me 6 years ago what I think the possible age range The Kardashians was aimed at, I probably wouldn't of said 16, however because of their power and popularity of social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat I think younger girls like myself would find them appealing and entertaining. Also, this age range may who the shows aimed at because it's around similar ages of the kardashians therefore they may watch to possibly compare lives with their own lives with the 'reality' of the Kardashians.
Relating to the 4C, I think The Aspirer would probably enjoy Keeping Up With The Kardashians the most, because they're rich and materialistic which is a personality trait of the aspirer. Also, egoists might like this show because they possibly want an insight of what it's like to live their life, with all their money and fame.
I personally enjoy watching Keeping Up with The Kardashians because it makes me laugh and I like all of the girls in the family. Therefore it provides, escapism and entertainment, and also social interaction through both social media and face to face conversations with friends. I don't watch TV that often as I get bored quite easily however , as its only 1 hour episodes and doesn't require too much thinking about, I do like to watch it.
