Media diary week 2
A piece of media I have
consumed this week is the hangover, the hangover is a comedy produced by Todd
Phillips and Daniel Goldberg. This is a very mainstream film that most people
would watch due to the fact it was very popular upon its release date and has a
sequel. I watched this film on Friday night with my friends in the comfort of
my own home from sky movies. The purpose of the hang over is to entertain its
audience and make them laugh as its genre is a comedy. There are relatable
topics in the film that will appeal to your average everyday married couple as
it explores the difficulties of marriage and what men get up to on their stag
party. The target audience of the piece would be for working class citizens aged
15-45, I believe it has a rather large target audience as people of all ages
and gender can enjoy this film as it is comical and can relate to almost everyone.
Despite it being a comedy it also had scenes that include fighting and friction
between characters which appeals to males and it also has romantic elements as
the main purpose behind the film is that there is a wedding which will appeal to
women.
As a viewer I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would highly recommend
it to my friends and family as I laughed throughout the film and found it
interesting to see how different characters can become completely different
when under the influence of drugs and alcohol. People would choose to consume
this text if they are wanting entertainment as it has comical elements throughout
that will appeal to the viewer. It has a perfect combination of comedy, action
and romance therefore will appeal to families as there is something that
everyone will enjoy.
Some
people may react differently to the text such as religious people due to the
fact it encourages drugs and alcohol and goes against the traditions of
marriage and the husband and wife being loyal to one another. They would find
this offensive as it goes against their beliefs and would be classes as wrong
and inappropriate in their society.
