Media Diary 2

Name of Media: Red Hot Chilli Peppers

Date/Time: Throughout the weekend of 1/10/16 to 2/10/16

Genre: Rap Rock/ Funk Rock

What is the purpose?: I have no idea, however, the lead singer Anthony Kiedis talks about his drug addiction and drug abuse as his father was a drug addict so he was exposed to the sorts of impact that drug addiction has.

Institute that created the text: Warner Bros

Target Audience: Predominantly Males in the 20-30 range

My reaction to the text:

I really enjoy Red Hot Chilli Peppers as a band, as they manage to retain powerful and meaningful lyrics whilst having a catchy chorus. I started listening to them again since their release of Go Robot (2016) and I believe that they are still an amazing band and I still very much enjoy their music.

Why people would consume the text?:
I believe people would listen to them for the very same reasons as me. For great lyricism and an amazing tune. Maybe people may relate to Kiedis' drug abuse issues or maybe they just listened to them years ago and Go Robot has sparked that interest for them again.

Could people react differently? How?:
People could just believe their music is good because of the tune and not pay much attention to the lyrics, as this is how I first listened to them before I actually paid attention to the lyrics.
People could also not like their songs as they aren't a modern band and can't really be applied to the pop genre.
