Love Me Again-John Newman
Narrative
The video is about all about two people who see each other in a bar (which John Newman is performing at) and they immediately like the look of each other. All night they can't keep their eyes off each other, even when the girl is dancing. They end up both going into to a room with all snooker tables in and kiss. Some men come in and interrupt them so they run outside into to the street and get hit by a van.
Conventional/unconventional
I think that a lot of this music video is conventional in the sense that its set in a bar and two people meet each other. However i think what makes this video overall unconventional is the morbid twist at the end when they get hit by a van.
Visuals
Its set in a bar which is typical if many music videos. The camera does some slow motion shots of people dancing and also has some scenes of people dancing with a black smokey background, this brings an ferry effect to the music video and prepares the audience for whats to come.
What works/what doesn't
I think in general this music video works, i like the fact that at the end the audience doesn't know whether or not they die or even get hit by the van, this leaves us guessing and wanting more which is what a music video is supposed to do. I think that the dances work as they add to the typical bar scene. Even though the first 3 quarters of the video is typical it works and entertains me.
