Ideologies
The mesages put across in this advert, are that children just be looked after and cared for, and should lead a happy life. Also, the message at the end 'Are your hands weapons of love' promotes the ideologies that child abuse is wrong, and our hands should be used to care for children rather than use them as a 'weapon.'
Visual & Narrative Techniques
The use of colours in the advert could of been used to connote the positivity needed in childhood, due to the vibrant colours such as orange, pink and yellow. Throughout the advert we follow a characters journey, who we see as a silhouette, as it goes through stages will the help of hands, which are also silhouettes. There is no voice overs in the advert, the only sound used is upbeat music in the background. I think this is so the attention is not turned away from the visuals of the advert, because then people would be listening to voices rather than actually watching.
Advertising Techniques
I think one of the main advertising techniques used in this advert is need for nurture from the 15 Basic Appeals, because the text at the end says 'hands should nurture not punish.' Also, the question at the end, 'Are your hands weapons of love?' will make the audience think and then possibly sympathise for children who don't get enough care and attention.
What works/What doesn't
- The use of bright colours
- Music
- Simplicity of the advert
- Possibly lack of text
