Labrinth - Express Yourself

Express Yourself is a song that appeals to people who're a fan of the Pop genre of music as this is a pop song effectively and has a very happy feel to it.

Express Yourself teaches people in everyday life to maybe be a bit more open about themselves and not worrying about what other people think as you're your own person. Labyrinth also suggests that everyone has something special inside of them but its just case of showing this to everyone. The narrative uses generic situations to show this. For example a bright pink and blue house which is on a road full of white houses only. This is an example of expressing yourself and being your own person.

The camera work mostly cuts in and out of different situations and uses a variety of different shots to film the video. The editing has no real pattern as it just shows different examples of people expressing themselves.

The video also features some iconic scenes that have ben taken from other events. The shot of Labyrinth writing on the board with chalk taken from outside the window is almost identical to the opening credits of the Simpsons which show  Bart Simpsons doing the same.

This video could be saw as a subliminal message in a way to encourage people to be less robotic and to avoid just fitting in with the norm
