British heart foundation advert

Advert : British Heart Foundation

Ideology

The advert has been made to show what happens or what can happen during the course of a heart attack. It also educates people about the dangers and severities of heart attacks.

Visual style/ characters

The advert is completely in first person, it is made to make it seem as if you are the person having the heart attack and the person in the advert is talking to you. It is done to almost interact with the audience but it instructs you at the same time, the uniqueness of the advert makes it very memorable which is needed for a good advert. The use of the low angle shot when looking at the man is effective as it makes the audience feel inferior which is what can happen when experiencing a heart attack, you are helpless. The use of camera movement in the advert is used to futher express the pain and discomfort a heart attack can cause, the camera starts shaking side to side and goes blurry which is uncomfortable to watch.

What works

The advert is very effective, it makes the audience experience the stages and the pain of a heart attack.it is also very educational as it tells you how to spot a heart attack and how to react which is useful. the use of first person is also very affective as it makes the audience feel as if they arev having a heart attack which makes the advert very effective.

  1. In this you could also mention the age of the man we are looking through the eyes of, this could show how the age may vary for heart attacks and that it is not necessarily just old people who suffer from them.
