Greenpeace Ad
The advert is trying to put out the ideology that cars are one of the most harmful things there is to the planet at the moment due to the emissions which they give off. It is basically trying to say that anybody who is using a car is a bad person due to them still driving even though they know that it is damaging to the environment.
Visual/ characters
At first all we see is a normal man who has came in to work and is getting looks of disappointment and disgust from everybody that he walks past, a woman even spits in his drink before giving it to him. Also people swear at him when he walks past. This makes the audience question whether the man has done something bad and makes them want to find out what it is. When the audience finally do find out what the man has done it can be surprising as he is only driving his car, however this does make the audience think about the damage they are causing to the environment and make them think twice about whether it necessary to drive there car to wherever they are going.
Lines of appeal
The advert uses a slight bit of humour when all the people are swearing behind the persons back, this is humorous as people can relate to this and some could probably admit to doing this themselves. Also there is use of reward and punishment, if you use a car then expect abuse from people and if you don't then don't expect abuse.
What works
The advert draws the audience in very well by making it so they want to see why this man is getting these looks of people and why he is getting swore at. This makes for a suprising reaction when they find out what it is about but it also makes them think. Also the use of reward and punishment is quite effective.
