Celebrities are also used as aspiring figures, they are there to be idolised and admired by the consumer. One article that demonstrates this is an article with Jennifer Lawrence which is about body shaming, she says "I won't go hungry to make people happy" this shows that she is confident within herself and that she is a strong and independent woman. Jennifer represents the ideological messages of the magazine that we should be confident within ourselves and reinforces the idea of being proud of how you look and living a healthy life. Jennifer also says "we see this airbrushed model and then if you don't look like that [you're ugly] … you have to look past it. You look how you look and be comfortable" this quotation shows that it is important for the consumer to be confident within themselves and be themselves no matter what and to not change for anyone. In a strange way Look magazine uses celebrity to reinforce the idea to be yourself, however you are looking to a celebrity you want to be like and are then told to be yourself which is extremely contradictory. Look magazine has a way of making the consumer want to be just like a celebrity however on the next page there will be a celebrity that tells you to be yourself. In addition Look magazine has a way of making the audience believe they are similar and on the same level as a celebrity, as if they are connected and the celebrity is just another human. However, other times it displays celebrity as if they are untouchable and should be idolised, it creates an image of a celebrity that we can only wish to be like but we will never achieve.
The consumer of the magazine know that celebrities in this magazine are exclusive and hard to reach however Look magazine does try to reduce celebrities down in ways so that the audience are able to personally identify with them and be on a much more personal lever to them. For example this is demonstrated in an interview with Binky where Look magazine say "much like us, she's still figuring out how to be an adult" this suggests that just like everyone else she is the same as us, she is not more special or more put together than any other person she is just like us in many ways the only difference is she is labelled a celebrity. Overall Look magazine represents celebrities as connected to the audience but also as people to be idolised and admired.
