This image is taken from the popular American magazine TIME magazine. It is the December 19th edition which is the person of the year special edition. The main image of the magazine cover is of Donald Trump who at the time was the president elect of the United States of America. The image makes Trump look powerful and independent as he is sitting alone. this also makes him look confident as he is sitting up straight and the way he is sitting. It is almost as if he is looking down at us as he feels he is above us, he is looking over his shoulder. However, the fact that he is alone and partnered with the medium long shot makes it look like he is isolated more than independent and he is looking over his shoulder could represent paranoia. Trump is also wearing a dark blue suit and the rest of the image is all dull and drab colours. This gives the magazine an eerie feel, the publishers of the magazine may of done this as it is a dark period of history. This dark period of history is the time of Donald Trump being elected as the president of the united states )or as tie magazine has called it "the divided states").  Many people including a large number of celebrities have been against Donald Trump as they are not a fan of him as a person or a president. He has been labelled misogynistic due to some of his extremely controversial speeches. He has also promised to build a wall along the America-Mexico border but wants the Mexican government to provide the funds for it. He has also been branded a racist, he seems to be especially racist towards Mexicans and Muslims, since he has become the president that racism has been put into actions. He has recently blacklisted 9 mainly Muslim countries from the united states.
The masthead has also been positioned in a certain way which the magazine has seemed to use to put forward their views of Donald Trump. The letter M is placed in a positioned right above his head, this makes it almost look like devils horns and that is reinforced by the font being the colour red. The colour red has connotations of evil and of danger. This may of been chosen as they think that Donald Trump is a danger to the United States.
