Representations of Women in Advertising

1. Tess Daly is used in this 'Nice'n easy' product advertisement which is for hair colour. They have used her to be the person to advertise this because she is attractive so people will want to have hair like her. She is happy on this advert and I think that the company has shown her in this way because they are basically saying if you buy this product you can look like this.

2. The encoded message for this advertisement is 'Get show stopping hair colour', the title intends to make women feel happy. In the information it says 'up to 100% grey coverage and dazzling colour confidence', this will attract women to buy the product and give it a go. It also says 'Its a small change to your hair that makes a big change to your head' this will also attract women to buy it because as they can see it makes them feel better, not just about their hair but about themselves as well.

3. The idea that the advertisers want to get across to the audience which is women who don't feel confident about maybe going out because of their hair, is that they can actually feel happy and confident just like Tess Daly has been represented here.

4. Women are stereotyped in this advert as always wanting to look good, just like Tess here. This is a stereotype because women always want to be the best and are judged on their looks and their appearance. Women are also judged on how they have got to were Tess Daly is as well, its not just because of her looks it because she's worked hard to be were she is and to be successful.
