Artist and Song: Lady Gaga - Paparazzi
Visual Style/Mise-en-scene. How has camera and editing been
used?
The music video is very fast-paced and uses lots of cuts and different shots all put together to show just how fast the story is moving.
Narrative including techniques used. Is there a story? How has it
been told?
The story of the video consists of Lady Gaga attempting to get revenge on her boyfriend after he tries to kill her. The main part of the story starts when the paparazzi take photos of the attempted murder, and the story-line is the revenge she seeks on him, ending in his death.
Conventional/Unconventional. Is it unique? How? Is
this necessarily a good thing?
The story is extremely unique because there isn't really anything else remotely similar to it. The video itself is not the norm of most modern-day videos because Lady Gaga breaks all genre codes and conventions, challenging expectations.
What works/Doesn't. Outline the best and worst things and make a
not of things you could borrow.
Pro: The video is very unique because of the style chosen.
Con: People could lose interest because of the strange story line.
