San Francisco Bridge: Use of lines and shapes, allows us to see the detail of the bridge as well as all the buildings in the background which we may not of paid attention to if it wasn't for how this was taken.
Sunset: rule of thirds, the colours gradually go from cold to warm a third at a time, from the blue and purples of the sea to the red and oranges of the sun.
Light and shade: the use of the boys shadow creates quite a dark atmosphere as we see him running, perhaps away from something. The shadow emphasises this motion of running.
The use of cropping intensifies the fierceness that we see in the owl's eyes and allows us to focus on them.
