The Text that Changed My Life
A text that changed my life would be the film "Stand By Me" Directed by Rob Reiner. The film is about four 12 year old boys in 1959 who after hearing about a boy being killed and the location of his body they decide to set off on a journey through the woods to find it for a cash reward. Along the way they learn about morales and the importance of friendship.
The film helped me get a better understanding on the importance of friends and taught me how everyone needs them for comfort and help, the film did this through the storyline which is used when one of the characters brother dies and one of his friends acts like his older brother and comforts him when he needs it and supports him and wants him to have the best life by giving him advice on his future. the film also uses humour by using one character who the audience learn to love due to his stupidity and his knack of always saying the wrong things at the wrong times, humour is also used when the main character tells a story around the camp fire which he makes up on the spot about a pie eating contest.
The film would be relate able for a wide range of audiences because it is based around childhood and the realisation of how important friends are which is something almost everyone will have or has endured some time in there life. The film itself would be aimed at older children who themselves could relate to the storyline as they maybe have recently gone through the kinds of experiences the characters go through and adults who may have been around at the time the film was made so they could be able to relate that way.
