Hollywood criticised for negative portrayal of LGBTQ characters.

"The lack of substantial LGBT characters in mainstream film, in addition to the outdated humour and stereotypes, suggests large Hollywood studios may be doing more harm than good when it comes to worldwide understanding of the LGBT community," said Glaad CEO and president Sarah Kate Ellis.
When homosexuality is featured in films, it portrays homosexuals in a very closed minded and stereotypical way. most characters are played by in reality heterosexual people, which is meant to add humour to the film through the gay character, this is offensive and gives the idea that no gay characters in films can be taken seriously due to these stereotypes.
