NSPCC advert analysis exam

The focus between the two adverts is young woman, young woman being the main focus imply's they are the most vulnerable to to being abused. This also imply's that young woman aren't able to speak out for help since they could think it could make the position they have been put in worse for themselves. Since young woman is the main focus it gives the message out to; parents, guardians and teachers that they need to make sure that they are okay and because in the advert the girl has a mask hung up it shows that they need to see through them when they act like they are fine.

The audience for this advert would be a majority of people consisting of people who are; currently being abused, have previously been abused and those who want to stop abuse, the reason they have set the audience to be as wide as possible is because the more people who are stopping the victims from being abused then the more victims saved from the abusers. Since they have set the audience so wide NSPCC is known my a lot more people and because of this it makes the victims know that NSPCC is safe and will stop the abuse.

The main audience from this ad is focused on young woman, this is because they are seen as more vulnerable because they are younger, older woman could protect themselves whereas it is harder for younger woman. Since it is focused on young woman, more specifically school children it makes more people want to try and stop the abuse from happening to someone who isn;t in the position to defend themselves.

With the advert it is based in a young girls room, we know this because the mask which is hanging up is a mask of a girls face and they is also a school tie handing up which imply's she is young. The background is pink with love hearts which is a stereotype of young girls.

'Talk helps it stop' imply's that all the victim needs to do is talk to the NSPCC and everything will be over and they will no longer be abused. This makes the target audience feel safe so it makes them have the confidence that if they do this it will stop the abuse they are getting. The confidence the adverts gives is a key part of what makes these adverts successful, if the adverts didn't give the young girls confidence that the NSPCC can do something about it then the advert wouldn't of been able t help those who needed it.

The mute symbol shows us that this girl doesn't have a choice, she is forced not to speak otherwise she will be abused. This shock tactic used gives teachers the need to nurture children they teach, it makes them want to make sure that nobody is getting abused who they teach or even know personally, because of this it helps the people who are being abused because they are also trying to find out if someone they know is being abused. This advert is successful this way because if teachers are making sure that out of the classes of pupils they teach no one is getting abused it helps those who are being abused and lets them get away from the abuser.

The girl in the advert has an emotionless blank face, this imply's that she has been forced to not show emotions, this makes the advert seem serious and that victims of abuse have everything they have taken away from them including emotions. This imply's that abuse is more serious than people think it is, its shown in this advert as more than just physical it is showing that the basic things in life which everyone is given from the second they are born is taken away from them which makes people realise that it is a serious thing with someone getting abused and everyone should try to stop the victims from abuse.

'When you can't talk about abuse talk to us' illustrates  that they want to put a stop to the abuse and the only possible way they can is if the victim or someone who knows about the abuse gives information about what is going and who is doing it. With this sentence NSPCC wants to let anyone open up to them about anything bad which is going on for them, this lets the audience feel free to be open to the NSPCC since they can be trusted.

The difference between the two adverts is one shows the awful side of abuse were you don't have the ability to stop it so you are forced to not show emotions or speak a word whereas on the other advert it is a mask hung up on a wall which shows before the abuse she needed to hide behind a smile and say she was okay if she was asked whats wrong, this basically shows the differences between what happens during abuse and when you are safe and no longer victimised by the abuser.
