Anastacia - You'll Never Be Alone

 

 



The start of this video shows Anastacia singing to us and there doesn't seem to be any real narrative until we see the video fade to show her, a man and a dog outside a house. They look like an family that are  happy and they seem excited about something. It fades back to her singing then again fades back to the scene and now Anastacia is in a car that looks like a present from her boyfriend. She leaves and it fades back to the singing. The singing is showing time passing in this video because whenever it fades back to the narrative time has past and something different is going on. For example the next shot shows her driving down the road. The lyrics also link to the video by saying "you'll never be alone" and showing each of them in different places but they will always come back.

 

There is a part where it shows her driving and her boyfriend going to sleep but they are in the same shot because they will never be alone like the song says. This also shows time passing after we have seen Anastacia singing again but the editing is used well as it gives the time passing a purpose and it hides it through the singing.

 

When she next starts to sing we see her in the care through a birds eye view and this is showing how long she has been driving for and the time passing. This is good as it leads into the next shot well by fading because the next thing that happens is the car crash. This fades because it is more time but it is sudden an unexpected because like her we don't see the wolf until it is too late. When it goes back to the house we can see that the do titches when it happens and the boyfriend rolls over like they both know something bad has happened. When she turns into a ghost we can see her confused because she is not seen by anyone so she is alone for the first time which juxtaposes the lyrics and the song title. When she returns to the house the dog can see her and gets the boyfriend out of bed to lead him to her. This is based of the idea that dogs can see ghosts and sense them.

 

When he rescues her we see them reunited and he saves her from death showing that they will never be alone like the song says. Some good points to this video is that the video shows the lyrics like they are being acted out and they are showing the characters lives. This makes the narrative easy to follow and that is why it is such a good video and this is like what I have in mind for my video.
