Make Poverty History
Ideologies
The main ideology in this advert is it's time to make poverty a thing of the past
Visual & Narrative
The ad uses a number a number of well known mainstream celebrities clicking there fingers after 3 seconds. The voice over in the ad is Liam Neeson. The advert is literally just a montage of celebrities standing there clicking there fingers ever 3 seconds but becomes very, very powerful once the message of the ad becomes more and more clear. The message of the ad is that every time they click their fingers, someone dies of poverty. This is a use of shock tactics.
Advertising Techniques
The ad challenges the audiences need to nuture as when Liam Neeson say "somebodies daughter. . .somebodies son" it instantly makes the audience feel for their children and they'll want to try and help because they couldn't imagine the feeling of losing their kids and don't want others going through it.
What works/what doesn't
I like the idea of all the celebrities just not saying a word and clicking their fingers while looking at you straight in the eye which is a sign that they need you to donate.
