Mental Health Advert

Ideologies:

Don't judge a book by its cover. Everyone has their own battle to face whether it looks like it or not; there is a reason behind everything.

Visual & Narrative Techniques:

The editing is used well as it shows young people in their everyday environments doing a normal thing which then immediately transforms into them at home facing their battle, e.g. depression/anorexia. A voice over is also used to state facts on mental health issues and that you shouldn't be quick to make assumptions; there is a lot we don't know.

Advertising techniques:

The strong message comes across with some shock tactics as audience members are so quick to assume and look past the fact that their could be mental health issues in young people. The fact that it is only young people shown will reach out to the audience members who have children, feeling the need to protect which also links to Maslow's need for love and belonging.

What Worked:

The use of different angled shots worked really effectively to show how each individual felt and how their issue effects their everyday lives.
