Media Diary week 5.

The media text which changed my life is the film 'The Blindside'. This changed my life because the film shows that your situation doesn't define you. The film shows Michael Oher, now professional American Footballer, played by Quinton Aaron. It shows his life before the fame, a homeless black teen. Through hard work and will power, helped by Anne Leigh (Sandra Bullock) taking him, he made a change. He shown me that your situation in life is not defined by where and how you live. You can either choose to accept it or make a change to it. 

When growing up Michael felt as if his talents were not good enough and that more people were better than him. However this showed me that without actually putting in the work needed to accomplish your goal, you'll never achieve it.

The film also shows to me to be kind. The Tuhoy family were a kind family. They took a poor student into their homes giving him everything he needed, yet it also showed me to stay humble like Michael. The family saw something special in Michael. The family was awarded for their kindness by seeing introverted Michael open up and becoming a man with a bright future.

I also found that the film changed my life in a way of how to overcome obstacles. Michael Oher had overcome obstacles in his life such as having a father in prison and a mother who was addicted to drugs. Although Michael was shy, the film shows that he never lost his love. Also the film showed me that, although you may have support around you to achieve your dreams, you still need the determination in yourself to achieve them dreams. Michael journeyed from rag to riches and the success was all down to his own determination.
