The masthead of this magazine is Men's Fitness. This is chosen because the magazine wants to target the male audience who want to get healthy and fit otherwise the masthead would just be fitness if it was targeted at both male and the female audience. Not to mention that the colour red is being used to show passion and aggression in the masthead to get the audience's attention. The writing in the masthead are all bold and have used capital letters to make the masthead to be noticed by the audience. The masthead takes about 20% of the magazine cover because the designer doesn't want the masthead to be ignored by its reader therefore they have to make it as big as possible. The strapline for this magazine is 'The measure of success' this is used as men's fitness' strapline because they want the reader to know that once you read this magazine, they'll learn another way of achieving their aims and targets.
The model thats being used in the magazine is the famous actor Zac Efron who has been in numerous films and he is promoting his new movie 'Baywatch' with the mention of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson on the side of the magazine. I think that Zac Efron is being used in the magazine cover due to the fact he looks healthy and fit and many men would want to obtain his body type judging from the cover of the magazine image. The frame of this shot for the model is a medium long shot because the photographer and the designer of this magazine is trying to show the model's body a bit more to its readers. Zac Efron's body also covers part of the masthead meaning that the designer wants the audience to focus on him instead of the masthead just like their previous magazine covers from the past.
The layout of the magazine is fairly simple as the headlines are made in a way that it surrounds the model. Each of the headlines also contribute to the meaning of the magazine as the masthead suggested Men's Fitness therefore most of the headlines must be about how to eat healthy and how to be fit. for example "Salads and sandwiches that builds muscles" this would attract readers to buy the magazine with the help of the model's image. The cover basically gives the audience clues about whats inside the magazine which i assume is mostly about health and fitness as well as few articles about stereotype objects that men likes to keep them hooked on the magazine. e.g. as football, cars etc.
I think that part of this magazine uses the need of sex to sell the magazine because one of the headlines suggested so. "Better sex tonight" will make the male reader interested in how to satisfy their partner and therefore they will buy this magazine. also to satisfy the reader's question because the magazine has used enigma to make the magazine more interesting such as 7 secrets of life long athletes and obviously the audience would be interested in what those 7 secrets are. I think that the target audience for this type of magazine are male between the age of 25 to 40s who are aspirers because they want to look good themselves as well as being healthy.
