Representation of Women

This cover of 'Glamour' features Kim Kardashian, who is known for being a controversial reality tv star, and a social media personality. Using Kim Kardashian on the cover would probably raise different reactions due to her history and controversy, and the content of glamour may reinforce peoples opinions of her being provocative and materialistic. Her face and name is known throughout the world and this is made clear as her name is the biggest and boldest text on the page apart from the masthead, mainly with young girls therefore suggests that magazine is aimed at girls and women. The fact that it shows just her name, shows how recognisable she is and has now lived past her usual 'Kardashian' name and status. However, the body language and outfit may go against the stereotype that Kim Kardashian is provocative because the way she stands with a hand on the hip and holding the collar suggest control and power rather than a promiscuous pose. The outfit does reveal much skin, which shows an element of class, and the fact that she wears a white shirt an black skirt is similar to a suit which may suggest independence.

The cover reinforces certain stereotypes and ideologies for women. For example, the title already suggests that looks are an important aspect of a womans life.
