This specific text of a Facebook page set up in memory of Robin Williams focusses on the positive side. All the images of Williams are happy and show his success, specifically the cover photo of one of his greatest films.

This specific text from the Guardian shows the response to the news of William's death. From the tweets shown and the quotes from known celebrities, Robin Williams is well respected man who is going to be missed. Each tweet has the stereotypical in the tone and wording, saying things like "upset" "sad" and "great talent". These and a few other words are what are typically said when a well know person dies. This gives off the impression to anyone that doesn't know Robin Williams that he is just another celebrity. The only difference that set these specific tweets out from others from when a celeb dies is the fact that other celebs are tweeting about him. This connotes that he is well know and well liked. Although many other celebs tweeted about this event, the Guardian have selected tweets from celebrities that are not A-list but have selected people who are in some forn connected to him. This gives this text a more personal tone to the text.

Media Diary 4

The text that changed my life is the YouTube channel of Alfie Deyes aka PointlessBlog. Since Alfie started creating videos in July 2009, he now has 3,338,918 subscribers to his channel. He create videos on YouTube of all kinds. Over the last 5 years, Alfie has made a variety of videos such as vlogs, Q&A videos, gaming videos and collaborations with other YouTubers. The reason that this channel changed my life is because it made happy for him, due to the fact that he started off, just as a normal guy, making videos on youtube and now, he's known worldwide and has actually made a good life for himself. It made me think that if something so little can change his life completely, then as long as I stick to my dreams, I can achieve big too.

PointlessBlog is just a channel that never fails to amuse me. From videos that involve dares to videos with tips to improve things, Alfie always finds away to make his videos entertaining, whether that be adding in bloopers or just genuinely being funny.
Every week he uploads a new video and every week I am sure to watch it.
Another reason that Alfie has changed my life with his channel is that it has shown me alot of other YouTubers who have created similar channels.
Another reason why I like his channel is because it allows me and other viewers to gain a real insight into his life, again, he does this in a entertaining way. It gives me an escape for a few minutes each week from my own life to go and see someone elses.

Media Diary Week 3

For this weeks media diary, I will be explaining who I think the audience is for the channel 4 show, Misfits.

Misfits was a British science-fiction, comedy-drama television show on E4, about a group of young offenders sentenced to work in a community service program, where they obtain superpowers after a strange electrical storm.

I believe that this program can target 2 types of audiences. The mainstream and the explorer.

The mainstream with be targeted as this show isn't just a one off. It has many shows within several series. The mainstream will appeal to this as it fulfils their need for security as there would be a new episode every week. Also, it targets the mainstream as it was shown on a well-known channel. This would appeal to the mainstream as they connect with big, well-established brands.

I also believe that it is targeted at the explorer because it is different to the typical sci-fi genre. Normally it would be in outer space and contain a lot of metal and alien type features, however Misfits doesn't. It has a sort of real feel to it due to the fact that without the superpowers, these 5 young offenders would be seen as 'normal' as we know that many young people today become like these. This appeals to the explorer as it is something different and fulfils their need for discovery.

Analysing of genre

The film I am going to be analysing is A film called ' The Perks Of Being A Wallflower'. (TPOBAW)

Charlie is a apprehensive teenager who has just joined high school. He misses his best friend who has committed suicide and he writes letters to an imaginary friend telling his feelings. Charlie befriends two seniors, Sam and Patrick who introduce him to their wider circle of friends. Charlie discovers a new world and feels happy with his new friends. Charlie begins to date a common friend, Mary Elizabeth, but when they end their relationship, Patrick asks Charlie to stay away from them for a while and soon it triggers his mental illness of PTSD again.

The soundtrack to this film is different to your normal modern film. By this I mean it is quiet relaxed, minimum upbeat music, but not 'dance' music. This sets the tone for the film as it isn't full of action scenes and is just a quiet chilled out and at times, quite serious film. There is some form of upbeat music for happy, more 'energetic' scenes of the films, but apart from that, the music could be categorised as hipster or indie.

The characters in the film are all represented as normal, everyday teenagers which is an aspect of which a teenage audience can relate to. It has the stereotypical groups that are associated with high schools such as; bullies, popular an unpopular groups and the trailer plays on these stereotypes. Charlie, the central character, is represented as shy and awkward, particularly at the beginning of the trailer when he is nervous about his first day, A second main character, Sam, is represented as a fearless character as it shows her on stage alone, looking confident. She seems very outgoing at the beginning but her use of dialogue further on in the trailer changes and shows a vulnerable representation of her. The other and final main character, Patrick, is represented as a stereotypical homosexual character. He's represented as a very camp but a confident and funny character.

The voice-over in the trailer helps the narration of the trailer/film and gives the audience an omniscient narrative as the VO gives hints and clues about the film. As the VO is purely Charlie, it also gives us an insight into Charlie's mindset and the way of his thoughts. This is a good thing because it enables the audience the easily find ways to relate to this character.

. The film is set in the 1990's and the clothes tell the audience the film is set n the past. For example, Sam's clothes help to represent her confident character as some are revealing and compliment her figure, making her seem happy and has a lot of body confidence. A variety of different locations are shown throughout the trailer which is which is expected from a trailer but the main location used is the school.

Commonly of this genre the trailer mainly uses close ups and mid shots. Close ups are used to show the characters emotions but are also used to bring the audiences attention to a specific aspect of the film. Mid shots have been used to show the characters together and to show them when their having conversations. Wide shots have been used throughout to show locations or often to show a group of people. The use of high and low angle shots tells the audience more about the character and how they should be feeling. For example, the low angle shot of Sam in the truck shows her confidence and makes her look free and fearless. Many shots zoom in or out. When zooming in, it draws the audience's attention to a specific point within the shot whilst allowing them to see what else is going on. Zooming out reveals more of the location and scene to the audience.

There is a specific scene in the film called the 'Milkshake/Brownie' scene which is the scene that I'm going to analyse the director on.

In my opinion, he is trying to create a teenage reality to create nostalgia for the adult audience. It captures the feeling that you belong when you're among your friends. It also shows that the pain of loss with kids is so real and occurs universal and happens to so many teenagers. The director wants to express respect for teens as it is represented throughout the whole film that life is not as simple and as easy for teens are most make it out to be.

Review of a song

Ed Sheeran - Afire Love

Ed Sheeran (Edward Christopher) is an English singer-songwriter who was born 17 February 1991 in Hebden Bridge. He was raised in Framingham, Suffolk, but he moved to London in 2008 to pursue a musical career. With such high talent, Sheeran began music recording in 2005, and released his first independent EP, The Orange Room EP. Between the years of 2005-2010, Ed had played 312 gigs, mainly in small venues. In January of 2011, Sheeran released his independent EP, No.5 Collaborations Project, featuring appearances by grime artists including Wiley, JME, Devlin, Sway and Ghetts. With this EP, Sheeran gained attention for reaching number 2 in the iTunes chart without any promotion or label, selling over 7,000 copies in its first week. Since then, His career has hit the roof with his to smash-hit albums '+' and 'x'.
'The A Team', his 2011 debut single, kicked started his successful career when it entered the UK Singles Charts at a astonishing number 3.
Since his career starts, Sheeran has been nominated for 49 awards but sadly only won 12.

This week I will be reviewing the song off Ed Sheeran's new, sensational album, Multiple. In my opinion, this is the most heartfelt track on the album. Sheeran's music can be categories within the genres of pop, R&B, alternative hip-hop, fold and acoustic. The album has made it possible for Sheeran to go on to be described as "gently pushing the boundaries and maturing noticeable".

This specific song from the album is about Sheeran heartbreakingly opening up about his grandfather's battle with Alzheimer's disease and its rippling effect on his family and grandmother. Through this song, we can understand the true heartache of watching and helping someone to this terrible disease. In the bridge of the song, Sheeran sings the lyrics "My father told me, 'Son, it's not his fault he doesn't know your face' / You're not the only one," before telling us about his grandparents true love for each other which has since been scrambled by the tragedy of memory loss. Not only does it give us his own, personal side of these events, it also gives us his grandmothers recognition of what his grandfather use to be like. To me, that is what makes this song so touching.

Set to a smooth, mesmerising beat that just emphasizes the song's lyrical feeling of sadness, "Afire Love" also touches on the flip side of a tragic death. This song has clearly been thought about with high effort. The clever use of violin adds to the 'depressing' tone of the song, which clearly fits the lyrics perfectly.

The reason is chose this song because I, and so many others, can highly relate to this song as this specific disease as if affects so many people within the world. The album on a whole, in my opinion, is highly relatable which attracts a target audience of all kinds. 'Afire Love' doesn't just have one specific group that it targets. The audience of this song could be pretty much anyone. This is one of the main reason that I think this song is such a powerful song. Not many songs can have an audience as big with such an affect on said audience.

Photographic Composition

This is an example of a foreground/background image.
Straight away, our attention is drawn to the woman in the foreground as it is the central subject of this specific image, but our attention frequently switches to the skyline within the background.

This is an example of a rule of thirds image.
This image can easily be split into thirds, with the sun on the intersection of the top, left square and the boat on the intersection in the bottom right square.
This adds affect by drawing our eyes to both of these points.

This image is a very good example of a lines and shapes image.
Our attention is instantly drawn to the background of the image as the lines create a form of a path and directs us to the point. The us of this technique could be to make the audience intrigued as to what is at the end of this structure.

This is an example of a lines and shade image.
The use of so little light in this image instantly draws our attention to the three children within this image. It creates a sort of lonely, helpless tone.
