'Don't let me die' all in capitals was the headline for the gossip magazine in America. The imagery used on the front cover is a image of Whitney Houston on the last night she went out and sadly the night she died. This image was chosen from a selection for a particular reason and it was to highlight her substance abuse. She had many good times to choose out of but the magazine chose this one to show her in a bad light for gossip and entertainment reasons. They also have images of the scene where she died to grab attention. 'Her drug dealer' is used to depict her in a negative way showing her drug abuse side, they're only deciding to focus on the bad point within her life, not remember the good points. the selection of words is very specific when it come to this magazine front cover! they only use words which are associated with negative aspects, like the words 'cops' is associated with arrest and and prison, therefore putting Whitney into that category. They also make her seem vulnerable by using 'cry for help' and also using 'plus her violent nights with Ray J' making her again seem weak and not a strong woman. This gives of the ideologies that she isn't to been seen as an iconic role model but instead just another celebrity who had too much money and decided to waste it on drugs.

Entertainment pays tribute to Whitney Houston on the cover of their magazine. There is only one image used on the whole page and it is a picture of Whitney standing there looking tall and proud in an elegant gown, this shows her in a positive light and shows the situation should be a time of remembrance for all the good and not the bad The colours used are very toned down and subtle, there is also a bright light in the background highlighting Whitney helping up to focus on her as she is centred in the middle, this emphasises her positive side and still making her seem like a good role model. There is  very few words selected to go on this front cover but the main attraction is the word 'WHITNEY' placed in the middle of the cover, the next to it '1963- 2012', this is a tribute to her because she was an icon. This magazine is dedicating its issue to her and not focussing on what went on the night she died. Mediation is again used through the use of the amount of words selected to be put on the cover, there is only three small phrases and they are 'unforgettable moments, your ultimate playlists, her final days' all these small phrases are there to back up the ideology that even though she had a problem with drugs and that is how she died, she is still some to look up to and respect as a role model.

This article in the Daily Star focuses on the bride and pride of being British, and less on the wedding itself. The headline states 'ONE BEAUTIFUL BRIDE...ONE GREAT DAY TO BE BRITISH', this is representing the fact we should be proud to still have a royal family, and we should rejoice in celebration that there is a wedding. It also talks about the beauty of the bride, and the connotations that comes not only with brides, but with princesses. The headlines also gives off a sense that the royal wedding is more than just the union of two people but it is also the uni
on of the nation, as it will bring everyone together.


































This article from The Daily Mail depicts a much more negative view of the Royal Wedding, and focuses more on the financial aspect of things. In the masthead it states 'most expensive security event in history'. This has described the Royal Wedding almost as an operation, and an expensive one at that, the funds of which will be payed for by the British taxpayer. It also highlights the possible risk to the event, as it is a 'security event' and therefore there are lots of possible risk that come with that. The picture itself also tells us something, Will and Kate seem to be slightly looking down on us, in expensive clothes, and in quite an affluent room. This furthermore helps to highlight the overall cost of the wedding.









This text is agin more of a negative text, by CBS news, and agin focuses on the financial and economic strain of the wedding on Britain. Throughout the video there is a voiceover of a man, stating all the different financial problems that will come with the wedding, he talks about not only the overall cost of the wedding, but also the growth to the economy. He interviews a number of tourists, who talk to him about the high cost of the city, as well as interviewing professionals, who talk to him about the overall cost of the wedding stating that Britain would lose more than it earns, and the loss of working days would be detrimental.




This article in people magazine showing Will and Kate as a happy couple, holding hands. It has a masthead of 'Love Reigns', which of course is a pun and a play on words. This article has decided to focus more on the love of the two, and on them being a couple, instead of focusing on the financial or actual event itself. Above the masthead it also states 'William and Catherine'

Representations of events-Luis Suarez bite

This piece of media is from a news paper article. They use of the work 'disgrace' is capital letter show how bad the action that Suarez done was.
The focus shown by this newspaper is negative. Although the image my be blurry, we still get a clear view of the bite its self taking place. The use of quoteations  around the word sorry gives the impression that his apology is meaningless. The paper makes out as if this is a really serious offence.








This is a sort of mockumentery. This piece of text represents Suarez as a predator as he is been made in to a shark. This video implies that he targets that he is going to bite.

The uses of the picture shows how much pain Ivanovic is in, creating a negativity look for Suarez, although the heading show that he is sorry for his actions.

This CNN coverage of Nelson Mandela's death represented it as a tragedy and a crucial lost to the world, although it is not said in so many words, his death was shown as a horrific time and they focused mainly on his work and commitment he out into his heritage and country, the head line is simple but yet by focusing almost fully on the aid work he did for his own people as well as the pride he had for what he believed in, his death was displayed as a severe loss to the world.  

This is a social network site with a page tribute to Nelson Mandela, it was made after he died and already shows how respected he was and how much of a heart breaking event his death was,  the site gives information on his burial and his death which represents his death as important and followed news, it also shows that his death is being treated as something which will live on and that it will be remembered for years to come.

This media text is an advert made by T-Mobile for celebrations of the Royal Wedding in 2011. The video brings in intertextual references of home videos, as we can see the camera is at hand held level and the camera tilts and shakes, to suggest that a family member or friend in the crowd of the wedding is recording this as the happy couple dance down the isle.

9/11 Representation

This is a newspaper cover  for 9/11. Here in this text 9/11 has been represented as a vicious attack as the headline is 'war on America' which suggest that this is a fight. The word 'war' connotes that the event wasn't just and accident but happened on purpose, and now it is an ongoing event which is going to carry on. Also the picture the newspaper have used is sung shock tactics to try and shock the audience about how bad it it really is and how big the scale of things is.

The newspaper text shows the people of the London community standing together as a community showing not every person was involved in the looting of London. Involves the images of the helpers picturing everyone in higher spirits shows the riots as a reversible thing not causing too much damage.

Where youths had roamed the streets with bricks and bats just hours earlier, a new army had appeared.' Showing the contrast between the event where rioters would have been armed with weapons the people now armed with cleaning tools to clear up the damage. Saying that youths were the ones responsible for the damage an army of rioters attacking London almost stereotypical to presume mostly or only youths were involved. Talks about the social movement for the cleanup using mediation doesn't show any images of the actual riots happening only the cleanup and some damage including burning cars. The titles of the news article being '#RiotWombles on the march: 200 rioters caused this mayhem...500 offer help to clean up mess' the use of the hash tag shows the social movement and trending and giving the statics o=numbers to show the volunteers outnumber the rioters and giving the idea the event was uncontrollable being mayhem. Showing that London cannot be affected by the efforts of the looters and so called hooligans and that the clean up will remove this as a community.
